Barcelona Strikes Back with a Dominant 6-0 Victory Over Valencia

Barcelona showcased their prowess in their inaugural home match of the season, with Fermín López, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski each scoring two goals in a resounding 6-0 defeat of Valencia. This decisive win lifted Barcelona to the second spot in La Liga, accumulating 10 points—just two behind the leaders Real Madrid, while Valencia found themselves in 15th place.

López initiated the scoring in the 29th minute with a close-range effort set up by Ferran Torres. However, it was in the second half that Barça truly excelled. Raphinha made an instant impact off the bench, netting a goal in the 58th minute from a Marcus Rashford cross, followed by López scoring again just three minutes later with a long-range shot. Raphinha completed his brace in the 66th minute, and Lewandowski, who debuted in the 68th minute, sealed the win with two quick strikes from close range.

In Italy, Luka Modric marked his first goal for Milan with a 1-0 victory over Bologna. This hard-fought Serie A win was marred by an injury to goalkeeper Mike Maignan and a red card issued to coach Massimiliano Allegri. Modric, at 40, scored in the 61st minute, capitalizing on Alexis Saelemaekers’ assist with a precise finish.

Paris Saint-Germain continued their flawless Ligue 1 campaign with a 2-0 win against Lens. However, the match was overshadowed by injuries as they headed into their midweek Champions League match.

Despite dominating the field at Parc des Princes, PSG lost forwards Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué to injury, along with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Lee Kang-in, and Lucas Beraldo during the match. Bradley Barcola scored both goals for PSG, the first from a spectacular curling shot from outside the box and the second with a low finish.

“The competition that everyone in football loves is coming up,” stated PSG coach Luis Enrique. “It is a difficult time for us because we have injured players. We need to adapt and respond as a team.”

In other news, teenage sensation Ethan Mbappé, brother of Kylian, earned his first Ligue 1 goal with a volley to secure a 2-1 victory for Lille against Toulouse. Lille was trailing until the 90th minute when Nabil Bentaleb scored from the penalty spot, turning the tide.

Meanwhile, Borussia Mönchengladbach faced a tough 4-0 defeat at home against Werder Bremen, marking their worst Bundesliga start in 34 years, remaining scoreless for three league matches. Gladbach’s performance raised questions about their form as they plunged to 16th place.

Danel Sinani scored late for St Pauli, ensuring a 2-1 win over Augsburg and maintaining their unbeaten streak this season.
